Julia,
You must my musical soulmate. I was saddened to hear of Paul Hester's demise as well... I love Crowded House and can even remember the oh-so-neon "Split Enz" days ("I don't know/Why sometimes I go crazy ..."). Very very sad to have lost another amazing talent to suicide. But if it's what he wanted ... I guess we should be happy for him? (I say this as a person who lost a friend to suicide a couple of years back; he'd been suicidal for decades and believed there was another plane he wanted to experience; I hope he's right, and that he's watching out for all his old friends if that's the case.)
I thought of you this weekend when I played "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore". On my turntable, from the import I bought years and years ago called 'The World Won't Listen'. Hope that puts a smile on your face, fellow Smiths fanatic! :)
Ta,
Susan
