"There's a battle ahead. Many battles are lost..."

I'm saddened by the news of Crowded House percussionist Paul Hestor's suicide. The members of Crowded House wrote some brilliant pieces of music and this loss is a great shame.

Julia,

You must my musical soulmate. I was saddened to hear of Paul Hester's demise as well... I love Crowded House and can even remember the oh-so-neon "Split Enz" days ("I don't know/Why sometimes I go crazy ..."). Very very sad to have lost another amazing talent to suicide. But if it's what he wanted ... I guess we should be happy for him? (I say this as a person who lost a friend to suicide a couple of years back; he'd been suicidal for decades and believed there was another plane he wanted to experience; I hope he's right, and that he's watching out for all his old friends if that's the case.)

I thought of you this weekend when I played "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore". On my turntable, from the import I bought years and years ago called 'The World Won't Listen'. Hope that puts a smile on your face, fellow Smiths fanatic! :)

Ta,
Susan
