This is a Republican Scandal

One of my favorite Congressional Representatives, Louise Slaughter, will speak about the whole Jack Abramoff scandal at 2:50 p.m. EST on C-Span today.

The Greater Rochester Weblog has a related post. It has snippets of Slaughter's post on Daily Kos depending on where you feel like surfing today.

Your favorite? Hah!

I do have to tell you I saved her life once...down in Charlotte...at the Harbor Fest. I pushed her out of the way of a fast, oncoming vehicle. Didn't even get a thanks.

Dean also did a great job on Blitzer this past Sunday by hammering the truth home that no Dem took money in this scandal. I think crooksandliars.com has a clip.

Thanks for the mention, by the way!

The point, Kev, is that this is a Republican scandal. You can say Dems are corrupt, and maybe you're right. But we're looking at Republican corruption naked and out in the open.

Complete irrelevant:

I almost ran in to Rep. Slaughter a couple weeks ago. Literally. I went to the SuperCuts at 12 corners to get my hair cut, and, while waiting for the car coming toward me to move into the parking spot it was waiting for, noticed it had U.S. Congress plates. When I looked at the driver, there was Rep. Slaughter behind the wheel.

Also, when I worked at the photo dept at Tops after college, her husband brought in roll after roll of pictures to be developed. I knew it was him because all the pictures were of her behind a podium giving one speech or another and his last name was, not so coincidentally, "Slaughter."

from the Buffalo news:

"Clinton spokeswoman Ann Lewis told The Buffalo News on Thursday that "after examining our records we found two contributions for $1,000 from tribes which have been clients of Jack Abramoff in the past."

Certainly these are small amounts of money, AND it's one step removed from Abramoff...but wake up and smell the coffee. It's a fool's paradise out there (to quote Ferris Bueller's day off) and if you think that no democrat has accepted cash from Abramoff, I've got a piece of the Brooklyn Bridge to sell you.

Away, Away

We're on a mini-vaca in an area where they're experiencing forest fires (thanks asshole arsonist). It's an area that makes Clift...
