Oh man, that brings back some bad memories. We removed layers upon layers of wallpaper when we bought our house. It was even on the ceiling. Yes, the ceiling. The $50 we spent on a wallpaper steamer was the best $50 we ever spent. We used Dif to wash the paste residue off the walls. If you've got more than one room to do, you should consider buying or renting a steamer.
